The programme

The PhD program for Theology, Philosophy, and History of Ideas offers a wide range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary doctoral research within and across the fields concerned. Theological research is characterized by interaction between historical, literary, and systematic methods. Typically, research will focus on textual analysis and hermeneutics, society, the history of ideas and mentalities, dogma formation, ethics and contemporary interpretations of Christianity. The program provides a broad research spectrum and supports PhD studies in any of the following fields:

• Hebrew Bible Studies, with special focus on Religious Scientific Approaches, Narrative Theology, Anthropological and Ancient Near Eastern Studies
• New Testament Studies, with special focus on Paul, John, Apocalypticism, Historiography, Reciprocity, as well as Christian Oriental Studies
• Church History, with special focus on Mysticism, Reformation Theology and Confessional Cultures, as well as Iconographical Studies
• Practical Theology, with special focus on Ecclesiastical and Ecumenical Studies as well as Social Welfare Studies
• Systematic Theology, including Dogmatics, Ethics, Narrative Theology and the Philosophy of Religion, with special focus on research on K.E. Løgstrup

Philosophy and the Study of Ideas and Beliefs covers the areas of Philosophy, History of Ideas, and the History, Philosophy and Sociology of Science, Technology and Medicine, including interdisciplinary studies of human practices in professional and cultural contexts. The program provides a wide-ranging interdisciplinary research environment and supports postgraduate studies in any of the following fields:

• History of Ideas and Philosophy, including both continental and Anglo-Saxon traditions with an emphasis on Idealism, Modernity, Metaphysics, Phenomenology and Hermeneutics
• Practice-Oriented Philosophy related to health practices, education and organizations and politics
• Epistemology and Theories of Knowledge and Cognition
• History, Philosophy and Sociology of Science, Technology and Medicine
• Historiography
